Last time I celebrated Thanksgiving I was 8 , then found out the true history of the Holiday and never celebrated it again . For some reason the slaughtering of American Indians does not make me hungry . I really don't understand the purpose of this Holiday at all . I understand family's getting together and all but not how people can celebrate the holiday knowing it's based on the slaughtering of thousands of people !

Question - What are your thoughts ? and Why do you celebrate Thanksgiving

Mr. SFC - What your saying has nothing to do with true Thanksgiving history , I suggest you look it up . Second the people at the first Thanksgiving didn't eat turkey { I know a shock } Third if you want to believe the Indians weren't slaughtered and somehow disappeared and turned into angels and now live in a magical land - That's fine . But I tend to enjoy reality and true history and history states they were slaughtered by the thousands .

dont blame you , we celebrate alot of holidays over death ,victory ,and defeat, the indians were the most discriminated and slautered people of a once pure nation, yet we still gloat in our greed and violence and lack of understanding, we all or rather our ancestors migrated here because they would not go along with the rules of there founding country, and now we are going back and trying to attempt to show our true selves again, and our greed for what we now need to consume becuse its easier to take what you dont own , than to try and purchase it or conserve what you have. it will all come back on us one day soon i fear. our money is no longer worth near what it was and i think its just the way the other countries are going to strike back, not to mention if china was to demand payemnt in full for our deficeit we could not do it , so i guess thats what all the reposession of homes is about, all they have to do is reposess us , they dont need to attack us , they allready own us. have a happy thanksgiving.

Alright ;yes the history of the holiday is a tragedy but when you are with family and friends its seems to be its own seperate tradition based on family like for me and my family its shootin skeet!..all holidays in one way or another have a sinister and/or pagan beginnings no matter which culture its is look at world history not just the history of the US and you'll see what im talking about!

you base this on understanding of Thanksgiving when you were 8 years old?

Are you 9 years old yet?

The reason for thanksgiving has absolutely nothing to do with slaughtering any Indians.

Don't know where you got this as an 8 year old but you sure must be gullible.

Sorry, your understanding of the basis of the holiday is incorrect. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving#United_States
