This will depend on what you plan to do with the post. If it's standard fence post and your using PVC fence I would use 1 80# bag. If the post will be used to support the weight of a gate I would go with at least 2 bags and 2' depth of burial. As DIY Doc stated it will depend on soil conditions etc. Hey Doc An 80# bag is equal to 2/3 cubic foot.

With no offense at all; it might depend on a few factors.
Reason for the post? FENCE? Height perhaps of a fence, determined by codes? Frost line? Size of the hole; and it's depth? Substance of the soil you wish to bury the post in?
Example: an 8 ft. treated 4 x 4 buried for Stockade Fencing at 4 x 8 is usually buried at 2 ft, Concrete; depending on bag size ( 60 or 80 lbs.) matters in that an 80 lb bag produces about 2 CU FT of FILL.
A fence post is most often allowed less than ground level for support substances; simply to back fill with soil; to allow grass growth.

Escavate the hole slightly bigger then the post. One bag of post mix will suffice, This is a dry ready mixed concrete material which you add water to once poured into the hole.

figure one 80 lb bag per post, you will probably have a little left over, i wouldn't recommend it if you live in a climate where it can freeze, water will get in there and crack the PVC.
