I am a student, age 42 and I will be graduating this year. Josten's comes to the school, but I never see anyone at the table. Are college rings a relic of the past? Passe? Out of style?

It does depend on the school. Nearly everyone I know who attended one of the service academies or MIT wears a class ring.

At some schools, members of fraternities or sororities sometimes wear rings that indicate the organization and the school.

But I know very few people who wear class rings other than those groups.

I am in college in am in my 3rd year. I can honestly tell you I can't afford a college ring. I need that money to pay for gas so I can go to my internship. I only make $15 phr and I only work 18 hours a weeks so I do not make a lot of money.

If I had the extra cash maybe I would but I can not afford one. I've seen some of the smaller looking ones that look quite feminine, not like big football player rings.

If you have the cash and want one go ahead and buy one. Who cares what people are doing now.

I think it must depend on the school. At Texas A&M University, class rings are a huge deal! Grandparents wear their rings still. People network because of wearing Aggie rings. Sounds like it depends on the specific school you attend.

No one can afford them anymore because colleges keep jacking up their tuition and bullcrap fees. I didn't get either a high school or college ring.
