biology homework??

then I'd say the reason we went into space was to find life out there somewhere.... even if just as small as bacteria

if we can find life out there, then we can understand "contextually" what roles humans play in the universe.

finding life will also help us understand how life might have began here on earth and it will show the CHANCES of other life (intelligent life) else where, (outside our solar system) is VERY VERY HIGH

I liked cbirch92's answer--to gaze through the emptiness of space, and into the unknown, (same reason why I like going to the beach, and looking out over the ocean). Also, the feeling of weightlessness, like going over the top of a rise on a roller coaster, must be impressive! I envy those like Dennis Tito, (among other space tourists), that they actually get to LIVE their dream of leaving the Earth, if only for a few days at a time. If I had $20 million to go up, I'd jump at the chance!!!

Biology homework? In that case, going into space to find new life forms. Although right now it would be much more practical to look for new life forms from Earth.

I'm not exactly sure, but people want to discover new creatures and places outside of our planet. The population on Earth is getting higher, people want a place where people can live outside of Earth. The resources on Earth are decreasing, people want stuff from outer space. Satelites and such need to operate in space. Lastly, because...well, the space is there. For us to explore...

To see and experience it for myself. If I was a young man now, I would want to go into space to look for extraterrestrial life, or at least clues as to how it started here on Earth. Titan, Europa and Mars are three places that beg for investigation. I am certain in your lifetime something big will be discovered on one of these places, something that will change our view of ourselves and where we fit into the larger universe.

Photography, get some good pictures on a good vacation to the moon, hit a few rounds of golf, etc, lol.

Really to expand our understanding of ourselves and the universe we live in. To explore our connection with all things and our position relative to these things. To be humbled because we are small and fragile beings on a small, beautiful, blue-green ball orbiting a yellow dwaf star. To feel awe and wonder, to gaze at the eternal vastness and complexity of the cosmos.

Biology homework? How is space related to biology. Say something like: "I want to observe which trees are durable enough to grow on the moon."

In biological terms, one would desire to go into space to see if any other life forms exist on other planets or moons. And if so, what the makeup and diversity of those life forms are.

to gaze into the vast emptiness of space. most astronauts say that just looking off into the distance is mesmerizing and frightening at the same time, and can only stand to look at it for a few moments. they say just the view has changed their life completely.
