lithic fragments are pieces of rock found withing another rock. these are usually found in medium to coarse grained sedimentary rocks as well as in some volcanic rocks such as tuffs.

think about a gravel turning into a conglomerate. each of the pieces of gravel would be considered lithic fragments.

lithic fragments are tiney peices of rock. It does not have to be volcanic. It could be a metamorphic or sedimentary rock fragment
