As long as the court order requires it, yes you have to go. You get to make your own decisions when you turn 18. Time to grow up and try to find something in common with your father.

There are only 8 states that do not take the child's wishes into account when determining child custody. Ohio is not one of those states. In Ohio, when determining child custody, the child's wishes are always taken into account.

In this situation, however, custody is already determined, and you would like to change it. This is possible, but won't happen by tomorrow. At 16, you may petition the state to change custody. The court will open a case and set a date, and there will be a new custody hearing at which you can speak your wishes. This is usually done to change custody from one parent to another, so I'm not sure what will happen if you want to remove custody from one parent who has joint custody. Your local district court should have a child and family services specialist who can speak to you about your options.

As for tomorrow, have you tried simply asking your parents to not make you go? Have you told your father that you do not want to spend the holiday with him, or told your mother the same? If you tell them, and they don't listen to you, there's nothing you can really do at this point, but it can never hurt to try.

18 then you can go where you want if there is a valid reason you do not want to see you dad tell your mother. IF it is just because you think he is mean well he is your dad and as such is entitled to see you, he has rights also..

At age 16, it's highly likely that the judge will listen to you. But you don't have the absolute right to decide until you're an adult.

at your age you can choose where to live most likely but until 18 you can not choose not to see your father at all, a court would be hard press to enforce you to visit, but at the same time can imply that it is your mother doing for the reason for you not wanting to visit your father as such imposed sanctions on your mother for failure to follow court order visitation
