If he is the sweetest guy in the world, show him by planning a romantic evening at home. You could cook him dinner, watch a movie with him that he's been wanting to see for a while, and just enjoy each other's company. Since there is so little time in today's fast-paced world to enjoy the good things in life, he would probably value the time you spend together more than any material thing you could buy him.

I don't know because I don't know his personality or your's. But I would say to get him something meaningful and personal because Christmas and Valentines day are the times for these kinds of gifts. A few people said diamonds, that sounds nice. Good luck & happy Christmas/Valentines Day in advance!!!!

I can't think of anything original, but I just wanted to say this....Reading through the other answers I'm shocked at how many people in the LGBT room are anti gay to the point of being offensive. Why are they here?

It would have been easier to answer this if we knew how long you've been together and what your 32 year old boyfriend likes.
I would suggest a good book or (if you have the money) an IPod.

Good question .... always hard to get the best gift, but I would agree with another answerer, go with 'thoughtful' rather than 'expensive'.
