It doesn't claim to; however, it does offer higher level versions that are better. It is doubtful that any anti-virus program has the capability to remove or prevent all viruses. AVG is simply less obtrusive than Norton, and it's free. For those who use their computers for minimal purposes, it's a good program.

I dont think any anti virus programme would be so bold as to claim it catched all the viruses. I dont like AVG free edition , but I got the AVG paid home edition. Its a matter of choice and opinion.

Well, to them it's the best solution they can get rather than spending money on it.
Why pay when you can get it for free?
And yes, Free AVG version is basic but it gets the basic job done.
Paid version of course is better but it's like health insurance
some are cheaper some are more expensive.

Just my opinion. Maybe because some users are not aware of other Anti-virus solutions on the market today. They trust that free program for their anti-virus needs.
