You can't give blood when pregnant, the blood center won't allow you to. When signing up to give blood, that is one of the questions they ask you,"Are you pregnant?" and if you are they will turn you away. Why would you even want to do that?

It's a bad idea, b/c your blood is already being used by two people. I just gave blood last week and one of the qualifying questions they ask you is if you're pregnant. So to even give blood you'd have to lie, which is never a good idea...

The American Red Cross, or any other organization, will not allow you to give blood if you're pregnant or suspect that you're pregnant. It's one of the many questions they ask during the exam before you give blood. It's safer for you and the baby to not give blood during pregnancy. You could become ill and pass out, and it's not recommended to do it at ANY time during pregnancy.
And please, don't lie just to be able to give blood. It's best to protect your newborn, even if he/she is only a few weeks old. I wouldn't want to take any chances.

They will ask if you are pregnant, and if so, they will not let you donate blood.
If you already gave blood and didn't know you were pregnant, most likely it didn't hurt you or your baby, but I would not do it in the future while pregnant because of the changes in your circulatory system and being prone to iron deficiency.

No no no no no. Even if you go to do it they'll probably tell you you're not allowed. They won't let you give if you're blood pressure is a bit on the low side, there's no way any good donation centre would let you give if you had a baby growing inside you!

Although no problems have been reported, the safety of donating blood during and shortly after pregnancy has not been fully established. There may be medical risks to mother and baby if a blood donation is made while pregnant or shortly after pregnancy.

Nothing will happen , It will be no different than a doctor drawing blood. You will feel a little week but your body will restore the blood that was drawn. Your baby need nurishment from you to survive, which is carried through the blood. The only way giving blood will hurt your baby is if all your blood in your body was drawn. We know thats not going to happen. I have 3 kids, when i had my blood drawn my baby and I was O.K. you will have to eat something sweet to replinish your blood sugar levels back to normal after giving blood. Alot of times they will give you juice and cookies afterwards.

I wouldn't think it a good idea to give blood while pregnant.

Nothing. You'll be fine as will your fetus. Once you know you are pregnant, you can't donate primarily because you will need it for later in pregnancy. Studies have shown that a higher packed red cell volume in the 3rd trimester reduces the chances of several things happening including pre-term labor.

I don't think it would hurt anything. If you know you're pregnant you shouldn't do it, but if it's before you found out don't worry about it. Your body replenishes itself quickly. If you are worried, ask your doctor.
