As Ronald Reagan often said, "there you go again". Generalizing people is silly. It is untrue and merely makes one who generalizes look foolish. If one person, no matter what their political slant, throws a crucifix in a jar of urine it is his right to do so. I don't like it, I don't think he is right in doing so but he has a right to his opinion. There is this document called the Constitution, which some have considered unimportant these days, that grants him the right to his opinion. While I may seethe with anger at his disrespect for my religion he does have the right to do so. His act may have been done to get me mad. By showing my anger I am playing into his hands and so I refuse to do that. By ignoring the idiot and his actions I win and not him. Of course you know he was a liberal because he wore a big yellow "Liberal" button on his chest, of course he did, just like the Jews wore the yellow star of David and the homosexuals pink triangles during the Nazi times in Germany. Otherwise how do you kow he was a liberal. He may have been a ticked of con who happened to also be an athiest or who was ticked off that the Church wouldn't give him something he wanted. Do you really know. I'll bet you don't.

I'm a progressive, but I found that guy's writing about this issue rather insipid. He isn't real clear at what he is getting at when he's criticizing the Dems for what they are doing. His case is not only weak but it makes no sense.
BTW, Conservatives get offended at everything, especially when people, including fellow conservatives, criticize Bush. Your example of an artist tossing a crusifix in a jar of urine is one example of conservatives getting upset at freedom of speech.

what? you were offended by art? what a thin skin.
but i'm glad that you're not like most conservatives who get offended at what a woman chooses to do with her body, what 2 consenting adults choose to do in their bedrooms, what families decide to do about end-of-life decisions, etc.
talk about getting offended at the drop of a hat, they have such vivid imaginations that they can't stand the thought of 2 men together.
but i'm glad you don't feel that way.

It was a beaker of urine, not a jar.
Mike Huckabee is likely to wage war on science with as much zeal as George Bush has done. Anyone as ignorant of the basic principles of biology as Huckabee probably would not make a good president.
David Sirota attacks progressives who attack Huckabee for policies they would endorse in a democratic candidate. I agree with him a little bit on that issue--it is pathetic. The hypocrisy is offensive.
But your question seems more general--do you find nothing offensive about torture? How about illegal wiretaps, domestic spying, abolition of habeus corpus, violations of international treaties, or unprovoked war?
If nothing else, there is waterboarding--the new american baptism for muslim infidels. I find THAT quite offensive.

Some are. So are some conservatives. Example- any criticism of Bush or the Iraq war makes some of them cry and blame people for being anti-American. Both thin-skinned political stances are mental disorders.

Ah-ha! You got offended when they threw your crucifix in a jar of urine. You're a dirty liberal, too.
Oh, and please don't be offended if I spell crucifix correctly. You wrote "crusifix" -- if you really cared about it, or knew what you were talking about, perhaps you would have spelled it right.

It is a defense mechanism. When they are wrong and they know it, they get mad.
If you have ever accused an innocent person of something, you will understand. When you falsely accuse someone of something, they never get mad, but try to explain to you why you are wrong or they simply prove you wrong.
Oh, but if you are right and you accuse them of something of which they are guilty, it is a different story. Most of them get angry and start calling you names. That is your first clue that you are on the right track!

I rarely get offended, but I know many conservatives who get offended when I tell them what I think about Bush.

they're all about throwing things in conservative's faces instead of rationalizing things
they are coming out to be more like Rosie O'Donnell and other eccentric entertainers instead of rational people who can sit down and debate or discuss something without protesting or getting so heating about things that they have to mock our weaknesses
they tie in their personal beliefs with their political stances and this is a big no-no, in life and in politics
all the liberals answering your question the way they did just proves your point even further

Perhaps you should reread the "conservative" piece he was discussing.
What's so offensive? Answer: its a lie--and being lied about is offensive.
And--since the right-wing doesn't seem to know what "honesty" is--tey are continually being offensive.
