women belong in the kitchen, when the best chefs are men?

It's just a way of "getting a rise out of" independent, modern women.

I've found that SOME guys just like to say unacceptable things to assert their "alpha male" status. Watch known offenders from a distance! The more disgusting and "politically incorrect" the crap falling from their mouth, the more they puff their chest out. It's quite humorous when you take 2 steps back and don't get emotionally involved in it.

Just remind yourself that the point is moot. Totally moot. Women are already educated and becoming educated. We are working, achieving and aspiring to do more. We are working to further our lives and the lives of others in society. The point is completely moot since what is, is. They can boo hoo about it till blue in the face but it's all in vain. Remember that and it will never bother you; it'll make you laugh at their stupidity.

Ronin, what would you rather have? Women dying from heart disease or women dying from boredom? Sitting around the house all day and waiting for your husband to come home is boring. Cooking and cleaning are also boring activities. Expecting someone to stay home and do the chores you don't want to do yourself is unfair and an incredible waste of talent. That woman who is sitting in front of the TV all day could also be out in the real world doing research to cure the heart disease that afflicts both men and women. I think it's sad that there are still a lot of people who believe women contribute more to society when they stay home, sit in front of the TV all day, play on the computer, and perform menial domestic chores instead of doing something they might enjoy a lot more such as holding down a job and providing their families with more financial security and a better lifestyle than they would if there were only one income earner.

Being a chef or being in the kitchen isn't a gender issue but put the two together and I'm sure not going worry about he said she said. What's for dinner?

Because they are sexist. Sexism is illogical.
The mrs: The best chefs are men, that is a FACT
perhaps most women are not interested in professional cooking, perhaps men are more, perhaps even the glass ceiling prevents women from being chefs (though i dont think so) but the bottom line is: most chefs are male, and most "best chefs" are men.

I believe the answer to this question lies in the adjective "Sexist". It is a trite, archaic statement from when "the kitchen" meant, by extension, the domestic home environment, as opposed to the world of business, politics, and the rest of life. Life has, thankfully, changed. That the viewpoint expressed hasn't gone the way of the Dodo is a pity.

Always wondered the same thing. Maybe it's because those men can't do anything right like satisfy a women, cook, work, or provide so they boss around women like they are superior. Most the time they end up in a divorce so they can't even do that right... poor guy.

They think women belong in the domestic kitchen, making simple meals that require little to no creativity. Men, however, belong in the professional kitchen, whipping up innovative new recipes that tease the palate. Ridiculous? Indeed.

Because they are sexist!! Don't want women to tell them what to do. Want to do as they please. Faulty reasoning on their part and have no idea that is woman is made for a man and "vice versa". Don't even give them the time of day.

Because what women do in the kitchen is a service, and what chefs do in the kitchen is an art.

That's what they think, anyway. I'm jus' sayin'.
