This is quite simple. If your having trouble just break it up. BUT REMEMBER TO ADD IT BACK!
so lets start with 3a x 2a= 6a^2(six a to the third power)
a is to the 2 power becuse you are doubling a, since you don't know what a is you just write a^2(a to the second power)
So whats 6a^2 x 2a= 12a^3

Remove parenthesis around (3a)
3a(2a)(2a)

Remove parenthesis around (2a)
3a * 2a(2a)

Remove parenthesis around (2a)
3a * 2a * 2a

Reorder the terms for easier multiplication:
3 * 2 * 2a * a * a

Multiply 3 * 2
6 * 2a * a * a

Multiply 6 * 2
12^a * a * a

Multiply a * a
12a^2 * a

Multiply a^2 * a= 12a^3
