8x^2+10x-3=0 , Find x
Easiest way is the quadratic formula
x =[-b (+ or - ) sqrt (b^2-4ac)]/[2a]
x1= [-10 + sqrt (10^2-4*8*-3)]/[2*8]
= [-10 + sqrt (100+96)]/16
= [-10 + 14]/16
= 4/16
= 1/4
x1= [-10 - sqrt (10^2-4*8*-3)]/[2*8]
= [-10 - sqrt (100+96)]/16
= [-10 -14]/16
= -24/16
= -3/2
x = 1/4 or -3/2

I assume you want to solve it? I will go ahead as if you wanted that done.
Well, first I'll try factorising. I need to find the factors of 8x3 that add together to make 10. 8x(-3)=(-24). The factors of 16 are 1 24, 2 12, 3 8, 4 6 and then they repeat. A negative has to go infront of one of them but in all I need to make 10. This would leave 12 and (-2). So this would factorise the equation is (x+12)(x-2)=0. I then have to fix it to (2x+3)(4x-1)
If you just wanted to factorise you would stop now. If you want to solve it you as if one factor was 0 and the other wasn't. Doing this would 2x+3=0 and 4x-1=0. This means x equals 3/2 or (-1)/4.
Hope that helps

8x^2 + 10x - 3
Get the product of 8 and - 3 (-24)
Determine two factors of -24 that add to + 10
-2 + 12 = + 10
Rewrite the expression
8x^2 + 12x - 2x - 3
Factor by grouping
4x(2x + 3) - 1(2x + 3)
(4x - 1)(2x + 3)
If you can't find factors that add to the middle term coefficient, the trinomial is not easily factorable

Close, but no cigar shrimpboy, remember that 8 is the coefficient so you have to go back and divide it out after you find x-2 and x+12. so your answers are incorrect. Mine are right.
8x^2+10x-3
x^2+10x-24
(x-2)(x+12)
(4x-1)(2x+3)
4x-1=0
x=1/4
2x+3=0
x=-3/2
Thats it step by step, x= 1/4, and -3/2
