I'm doing my research paper on "Why do men rape women? Is it a psychological disturbance or cultural deviance?"
I have to present both sides objectively with at least 2 academic journals presenting each side. I've found 2 articles for the cultural deviance position but not the other position. Any ideas of where I can find journals to support that men rape women because they are psychologically disturbed? I've already tried Google Scholar and my school's journal host such as PsycInfo.
Thanks for your help!

I can't point you to any articles, but two books come to my mind whose bibliographies may be helpful or may not~A Natural History of Rape by Randy Thornhill and Craig T. Palmer and The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature by Steven Pinker (w/ a chapter called "Gender" which partly discusses rape and uses references to scholarly articles).

P.S. Just got an idea: Wouldn't being a psychopath/sociopath certainly qualify as being a psychological disturbance which may lead someone to rape (selfish, lack of remorse, objectifying people, violent, impulsive)? Maybe if you search for articles about psychopaths and rape you'll get something. ~shrug~

I don't know that you are going to find an article like that. You might find that they have a psychological disorder, such as Narcissistic Personality Disorder, but since it is impossible to tell if that disorder "caused" the person to rape someone, there may not be any statistically significant studies that demonstrate that. Also, in some instances, I think that a man could rape a woman because of a cultural deviance (e.g. his parents taught him that women were not equal to men) combined with his psychological disorder (his illness causes him to lack proper impulse control). Good luck...that is a toughie.

I can't believe there aren't tons of written stuff about the psychological disturbance angle. How much time do you have to prepare your paper? Any public library must have MANY good quotes from many books on the "rapist as mentally troubled" theme. You just have to dig them out.
Sometime in the past, Time magazine must have devoted a cover story to this theory. Can't you find it (I'm assuming the issue of the magazine exists somewhere in the past twenty years or so).
