I think its because I relate it to my childhood memories of the holiday season. That warm glow inside that only comes around during this time of year. When one takes time to reflect on giving and family and friends. And being a christian, reflecting on the light of the world and the love of God showing itself in the action of becoming as one of us: a small baby...the most humbling act in all of creation.
And when its snowing is so quiet and mesmorizing. It hardly makes a noise unlike the rain yet it seems to fill up the space all around you with a gentle presence. At night everything seems to glow and sparkle from the snow. I love it!

It reminds me of Christmas when I was a child. When I believed in the magic of elves and fairies and also Santa Clause. When Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reigndeer was so exciting to watch. My family would put on Christmas music when it started to snow and we would watch out the window forever. It just brings back a sense of magic like everything used to be when you were a child. My Grandma was cooking christmas candies and cookies in the kitchen while I watched the Frosty the Snowman movie in the living room by the fire place. It felt like we had the most beautiful Christmas tree in the world. My Grandfather used to read me the Night Before Christmas. Thats why the first snow is so magical for me, but it is different for each and every person.

The first snow is made up of fine pollutant dust particles that were floating around in the air and the ice. The snow has a more glittery effect because of this and makes it sparkly.
