to all of you that dont think the beatles were rock... do some homework. they only became pop as they hit mainstream and their poularity soared... hence the name pop (poular culture). they are rock. zepp is technically considered hard rock.... so i guess that makes you wrong too. semantics...

Well, it really depends on what kind of music you are going to play. For instance:
Metal - Guns N Roses
Death Metal - Slayer
Thrash Metal - Metallica
Heavy Metal - Pantera
Glam / Hair Metal - Motley Crue, Skid Row
Punk - The Pistols, Dead Kennedys (Basically all of the 70s punk)
Grunge - Nirvana & Alice In Chains
Rock - The Beatles
But yeah, it is basically what you play, and these, are only my opinions.
