Women in our society are considered sexy and sensuous. The best that men can hope for is to be funny. If a man tries to be sexy he is considered gay.

SEE, SEE!!! They're calling me gay right from the start.

Ok, disclaimer....movie stars and rock stars are allowed to be sexy. I'm talking about the average (good looking) guy.

Also, I'm not talking about me, trying to hard or whatever. I'm not trying at all. Just an observation.

SASSY- Yes but they're still considered gay. That's my point.

Good point and very true.

Women get upset about the stereotypes and limits they have, but honestly anymore, men are the one's suppressed for many, many things.

I think there are different levels of sexy and yes, men are definitely allowed to be sexy! The ones you're talking about are the Fabio-type guys w/ the chains, open shirts, and the "I'm so cool" attitude. Women DON'T find that attractive even though, by society's standards, some might find that sexy. Different women have different views of what is sexy. To me, the sexiest man is one who is confident, a gentleman, ambitious, strong character, and funny! Sexy doesn't have to be all about looks. While you see the glass half empty, I see it as half full. Here's what I mean: guys CAN be sexy and it doesn't all depend on their physical appearance. For a woman to be considered sexy,it's almost always tied just to her looks.....so we get the shaft too a little!

I think my man is very sexy, but not as much in the physical way as in the mental and emotional way. I think he is very handsome, yet he is packing a pony keg around the midsection.

Women, I think are generally considered to be sexy in physical appearances instead of by their brains or personality. Given there are some people who will say their woman has a sexy personality, I always wonder if it is her physical appearance that first drew their attention.

You also have to think about all the male models that are considered sexy, physically. Lots are considered gay, but nobody cares because they are still gorgeous.

What the heck are you talking about? EVERY year magazine's have "The Sexiest Man Alive" (or soemthing like that) on their covers.

Sexiness for a man is different than sexiness for a woman. Just ask a woman what she thinks is sexy and you'll see that "society" (whatever that means) allows men to be sexy.

They are called "studs". Seems guys look in the mirror and think they ARE sexy...where women look to outside influences to determine what "sexy" is and then try to be that.

99% of the men aren't what's considered "sexy" to the vast majority of women if that's ALL we were looking at. We look at the package and realize there's more to a man than just being "sexy". We want more and expect more. Otherwise.....we'd just put a statue in the house and drool.

You are mistaken. What your question should be is "Why does it cost so much more MONEY for men to be sexy?"

When you look at the Matthew M/George Clooneys of the world, or the 'sexiest man alive' they are always wearing Armani, or another bazillion dollar get up that a working man probably can't afford. Anything I buy for my husband costs so much more than the same item for me-cologne, underwear, whatever. My perfume is $45., his is $60?!

This must be why men make so much more money than women doing the same jobs.......the "sexy" inflation rate. And also-some gay men are drop dead sexy, its not their fault. Don't hate them because they are beautiful..

Oh yeh, and what would you call Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and oh, yeh, the brand new sexiest man alive - Matt Damon?

A better question is why women are not allowed to be funny - like silly funny women almost don't exist and if a woman tries to say half of jokes that men do everyone gets totally freaked out.

Ask a woman what is Sexy in a man and you'll get a 1000 different answers. To me sexy is a man who has enough confidence to be himself.
What does he look like? well his hair is short, he is cleanly shaven, smells nice. Has hair in the right places, clean hands and nails (no manicure though because that is gay!). Good fitting clothes, appropriate to where he is. Well defined pecs and abs (not too muscly as that's gross) tight bum. Long legs (not too muscly again). Clean feet and toe nails.

Big turn offs - Long hair, bad skin, bad breath, muscle tops

you need to rethink your thoughts. Maybe your idea of what makes a man sexy is not what a lot of the women think is sexy. They have a perception of what they like and makes thier heads turn just like men do. Maybe you just need to ask what it is that turns the women on that you are trying to look good for.

Men are supposed to be masculine... Testosterone makes a man more masculine and millions of years of selective Darwinism has favored men with more testosterone because they were more likely to be able to protect the family, hunt food and build shelters.

Of the sexy and masculine cavemen, which do you think got the cave and the food and woman when there wasn't enough to go around?

No, men are considered "handsome" or "hunks." Sexy in my mind is a word restricted to a description of females, but it is not just based on looks. True "sexy" is more in actions and the way she carries herself than looks. A woman can be beautiful but not sexy.
