Funny you should ask that, although I still like much of the music I did in my youth, as I've gotten older I have embraced other kinds of music and artists that I wasn't that keen on in the past...Sinatra being one of them.....
One who has always been a fav of mine is June Christy! and her rendition of 'Round Midnight'

I think it's an age thing. I know my friends and I don't listen to
the rock and roll types of songs that much anymore. And we
are all listening to more mellow music that doesn't jangle the
nerves. I still enjoy the old 60's and late 50's R&R music, but
I do like the crooners more now too. Easy Listening, I think is
the common term for that kind of music. Something you can
eat dinner to and not feel you are eating in time with the beat.
Yes, Sinatra music is definately easy on the ears, and just
the thing to eat or drink or dance to. Dean Martin was another
and definately a crooner. Andy Williams and Perry Como
were other big names when that style was so popular. It's the
music my parents liked after their days of Boogie Woogie and the Big Band era faded from view.
Yes, I think it's in our nature to settle down more in our tastes of so many things. And the type of music we enjoy as
seniors changes along with the rest of our preferences. I
still like Neil Diamond and some of the others from the 80s.
But I find I too am listening to mellower singers more all the
time. Maybe next, I'll want a come back to the big band sound!

I have noticed that my taste is also changing. The Doors are still on my top 5 list, but I actually find that I am learning to appreciate the music from those many years ago. I even have a CD of old WWII songs .... praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

I think a lot of it is the memories they bring back. I've always like different kinds of music, but had gotten away from some of the older tunes like with Frank Sinatra and his peers. Now as I get older I'm starting to enjoy them again.

Oh Rose, I understand completely! My favorite singer is Bruce Springsteen BUT..............I discovered Frank about 10 years ago, in my mid 40's. My parents always played his music and I hated it, maybe because it was "their" music.
I have 12 different Sinatra CDs now........My favorite is "Sinatra at the Sands" with the Count Basie orchestra. Frank's voice, style and humor were incredible. At that point in his life, he was the coolest man alive.
But I STILL love Bruce.

I guess it is called becoming mature. I like your choice of "Satisfaction", too. However, Sinatra was one of the all time great voices. My oldest granddaughter who is now 20 liked him enough to do her homework listening to him when she was in high school. She is now a junior in college and still listens to his recordings.

I like "Old Blue Eyes" music also. I noticed that since Robert Gullahs recent passing the local radio had been playing many of his recording also.
I love his rendition of "New York New York".

It's nice to reminisce. All my music is now loaded on my computer and is added to as another song comes to mind. There's a bit of everything.
