desert mermaid, i totally agree with you- i had to read it for school too. I'm not debating whether it's well-written or not, but it's definitely not the best written book ever and if you only write one book you ain't gonna get far with me. Unless you've written an epic or you are physically unable to write another, you're not a writer- you've written a book.

The entire book is a literary masterpiece; a work of art.
Not only is it well-written, but it is a also a beautiful story.

One of my all-time favorites. I was entranced with the book from the first word on--and I love the ending.
When I used to teach it, I know that some of my students felt that it started too slowly; they weren't looking at the beauty of the writing and the beautiful picture that Lee is painting. However, the vast majority of my students ending up loving the book.

I thought that it was a very insightful book...I hated the first part and found it the most dull thing I've ever read, but the end part is actually really good.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. It was way ahead of its time and still quite relevant today.
I did not find the first part dull, but I have had plenty of students who did. After sticking through it, though, they couldn't put it down. One reluctant reader even cried as he finished and declared, "That is the best book ever written." Several of the students thanked me for making them stick with it. Hopefully you'll feel happy that you stuck with it too.
Good reading.

I loved it! This is my favorite book. I couldn't put it down. None of it was dull. No wonder Harper Lee never published another book - there is no way she could have topped "To Kill a Mockingbird"!
