In response to a question I posted earlier regarding a career assessment test that I had taken someone suggested that I should become a speech pathologist and that I would like it but they didn't say what program of study this occupation falls under and whether or not such occupation requires a Master's degree I imagine it probably does though. thanks for your help!

If you are interested in going into speech pathology you will want to get your undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. If you choose to get a bachelor's degree in something else, it will take you longer to get your master's because you will need to take some of the undergraduate prerequisite courses.
Most states require a master's degree to work - though some states allow you to work with a bachelor's for a few years before starting a master's program.
The American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (www.asha.org) is a great place to find all kinds of info on accredited programs and info about the field in general.

Most universities have a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Check with your local state college. It is either a 4 year or 5 year program with extensive clinical work. There is a shortage of SPA graduates, so it's a good field if you are interested.

You could major in Linguistics, which is the study of language and can be theoretical or applied (applied would be best for you), as your undergrad and then get a Master's in Speech Pathology/Speech Therapy. The Master's is usually needed, as it gives you your specialization.
