Yes we all know Columbus was a jurk to native americans and that other have discovered america or would have.

Now why was a person finding America in 1492 important for the rest of history?

It is pretty evident that you did not think this out at all, because if he had discovered the New World YOU WOULD NOT BE HERE unless you are a native American!!!

A connection between two worlds.
But that had negative consequences, too.
Eventually someone else would have discovered America, so it isn't actually all too important that it was COLUMBUS - actually, it was the time period.

Read Orson Scott Card's "Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus" for some insights on Columbus. (It is fiction, but with tons of facts and what not)

Columbus "discovered" what is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic he never actually made it to the Americas. But his voyage did spark Spanish interest in these new lands as a possible source of resources that could be exploited.

It pretty much opened the door for others to take to the waves and make a multitude of discoveries that formed the world we have today...by his not dropping off the face of the earth as was feared it caused others in better equiped and more scientifically advanced craft to continue searching for an easy trade route to India and eventually led to opening up the North and South American continents to exploration and settlement and also as some say, subjugation and genocide...

Smells like a homework question...
After you write your answers, go back and check your spelling, word usage, and punctuation... if your question is an indicator of your knowledge of those things, you're going to need to get some help in those areas.

Everything we have today and are able to do, is a result of him accidently finding America.
