If you have a look at the previous 'car of the years' these past 15 years, you should notice that Fiat have won 3 or 4 times, including the 2008 car if the year. This certainly means that Fiat are doing a good job. Sales of Fiats in Europe are very high., that means people like them since they are reliable, effecient and valuable.

Fiat loved in the middle 1980s and owned severals. loved the car but stopped making parts in the USA> so had to move on.

I owned a Renault Alliance. 1986. What a piece of junk the front wheel came off one night. Then one day astrut collapsed and this care was a nightmare

I liked up to the mid-80's Renault, and current Renault, but not the 90's or early 2000's.

As for Fiat, they solved the rust issue for exports worldwide, but not too many eary cars survived. They make fun driving, and mostly simple (point a to point b) cars.

Both car companies make cars which are fun to drive.

Ive been using a Fiat Palio for two years and apart from the low gas mileage, im pretty pleased with it - as compared to some of the smaller japanese and korean cars that compete in the same segment, that ive driven. It has a more solid feel that its rivals and feels better planted on the raod too.

In the past, both makes were awful. They've both improved but still not up the the quality of Japanese cars.
