I have a really serious question. I want to be an actress since I was seven and right now I'm a junior in HS and when I graduate I'm planning on going to auditions and sending my resume to every agent that is out there. I'm not stuck up or anyting but everybody I know keep telling me that I'm really pretty and stuff. I'm Russian and I came from Russia 3 years ago and I learned English just for acting. Acting is the only thing that I live for. Please give me an idea what to do after I fishish HS. I take my art VERY seriously and I'm very dedicated.

Thank you all

No matter how pretty you are, when you start going to auditions, you'll find yourself surrounded by lots of other beautiful people who have the same ambitions you have. To give yourself an edge, you want to get as much experience and training as possible. Do you act in plays at your high school? That would be a good way to start gaining experience. Are you thinking about going to a college with a good theatre department? That would be a good way to get the training to help you develop your performance skills. Also, your teachers in college will be able to give you lots more good guidance and advice than you can get from short answers here. Don't look just at big-name colleges. Many less expensive schools, such as state universities, have excellent drama programs. Does your high school have a college application adviser who can help you find schools that would be right for you?

I suggest going to a liberal arts college to pursue your acting dreams. If you get into a very good university (Tisch School of the Arts at NYU) or such, then you may get to meet many successful people in your field. Plus, by going to college you can get enough experience and education to pay the rent plus some while you're working your way up to be an actress.

Hi, I'm an actress myself... once you get to an audition there are over thousands of people there and your surrounded with a billion times better looking people than you, but only one gets in!! acting also takes a lot of money, it would be almost impossible for a person to act without paying thousands of dollars each day!! You don't need to look pretty to be an actress you need to have skill and especially talent and lots of it!

"most people say follow your dreams i say... chase it!"

you can always go to college of arts, but your starting at a very late age.........

go over a thousands of auditions until you fingers melt, and never give up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's great. Dedication is lost in many people. If you work hard in the craft in your own unique form, you will succeed. 'Nuff said. The only thing you must remember is that the actor is an artist, and should never count on others to tell them whether they are "pretty" or not.
