The Kansas City Chiefs, not out of contention in the down 2007 AFC West, get rid of able and dangerous backup back Michael Bennett (backing up 2006 stud Larry Johnson) to make room for Holmes, who was coming off risky neck surgery, and just two games later Priest is done. Larry Johnson may also be done for the season with a seriously injured foot (NFI). How should Chiefs fans feel now?

I say the Chiefs just shot themselves in the foot (pun intended) by keeping around an untrustable player with a big name. Your thoughts?

The Chiefs fans should be upset that their front office took the big risk Larry Johnson would stay healthy all season and did not make sure they had a capable backup that wasn't com8ing off a neck injury from two years ago. Johnson has carried the ball 300+ times the last couple years and was due for a physical breakdown of some sort. The offensive line has been ignored as it's been aging. However Chiefs fans should be thankful they had the pleasure of watching Priest Holmes run behind what was once one of the best offensive lines of all time a few years back. I hope Holmes has a healthy life off the field now that he's retiring.

I'm not upset that we got rid of Bennett. The front office was going to get rid of him anyways to get Smith and Grigsby more playing time even if Holmes didn't come back to play. As far as the retirement of Priest, I feel bad for the guy. He was a class act, a great player and was loved by all Chiefs fans and the community in general. He worked his *** off to come back from 2 devestating injuries just to try and get one more Sunday in front of the Sea of Red and as a fan I'll always be grateful for what he did for the team. I just wish that his career could have ended a better way.

The Chiefs are gonna be in trouble in the passing game now. Priest didn't quite ever get his running game back, but he was still a great pass blocker and they need someone back there that can pick up a free rusher because the o-line can't block for their lives.

Being a relatively new Chiefs fan (new being I moved to KC 5 years ago and now root for them) I fell that having shipped off any capable, meaning proven, running back out was risky and stupid. While other teams have had success in the unknown breaking out (see Denver and Green Bay) poor KC has not ever had that luck.

Kolby Smith had shown some spark in the pre-season but that was just it, pre-season. The Chiefs should have made more provisions but this has been the bane of Carl Peterson throughout his tenure as the Chiefs GM and President. Poor choices that ended up costing the team.

As for Priest being untrustable, I have to disagree. Priest thought he was able to come back and had doctor approval to. You truly can not fault a team for listening to a doctor of a once premiere player that could be impactful once more.

I do feel bad for Priest and even worse for the Chiefs.

Lions by making use of a procedures. they only don't have it. All those sturdy youthful receivers they drafted and the place are they now? Mike Williams isn't even with a collection, Roy is a Cowboy and Charles Rogers isn't with a collection. 2 busts and one sturdy one. they're a poorly run group and are a poorly coached group. Their issues commence in the front workplace and that they might't even draft a QB good. Stafford is sturdy yet whilst they needed to win they could have long gone with Sanchez. it will be yet another annoying 365 days in the Motor city.

I feel bad for Holmes, as he made a hell of an effort to just get back to the NFL. As a fan, there's not much you can really do other than hope Kolby Smith can break out and do a good job. I heard a rumor that LaMont Jordan may make his way over to KC. Just hope your defense can continue playing well and get you to the playoffs.

Sad, I guess, Uncle Dodge.....

I just wanted to wish you and your children a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!! I hope that you are off from work for the day. :)

(I was invited up there by my eldest child, but because of the kitten situation--no one to watch them for a week--I can't go).
