OK. I found out yeasterday that when I was aresseted in MI, 2 years ago, I was charged with posession. I thought they didn't care and they had never made a record of it because I was never contacted about it and several months later moved away from Michigan and back to Alabama. Now, just a few days ago, a letter comes to my grandmother's house (not even my address) saying something about failure to appear for a court date and $2000 bond... what the hell? It's been two years and I was never contacted about a court date or anything!!! Are they going to come after me since I am now all the way on the other side of the coutry? If I get pulled over and they run my license, are they going to put me in a car and ship me back to michigan right then and there? I don't know what to do about this. I don't have $2000. I don't even know what it means.....????

You know what it means. You didn't show up on your court date for the possession charge. Now you have a bench warrant. You should take care of it by calling a lawyer there or the court and getting on some payment plan. States do have extradition pacts and after 911 there is much more information sharing so you may run that risk.

I doubt they'd extradite for a petty crime, but you do have an outstanding warrent. I'd find a way to pay that even if it means getting an extra job until you can raise the money. Chances are they'll be a lot more lenient with you if your debts are paid. The court system runs very much like a business.

Don;t have any contact with the cops wherever you are, even for a minor traffic ticket, and don't go back to MI until you take care of it.

You expect us to believe you thought that MI "forgot" about your arrest? Are you that special?

Very doubtful. They usually don't extradite for a misdemeanor unless its a gross misdemeanor and you get arrested for something else. You stil might want to consult a lawyer!
