I love Stephen King books and how they all tend to refer to each other. Some King movies have been really awful but some have been really good as well. Some of my favorites are:

The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption
Christine
The Dead Zone
Misery
and Pet Cemetery

Also what are some of his books that you think would be great movies that HAVEN'T been made yet? Here's my list:

Insomnia
Rose Madder
Bag of Bones
Cell
Black House and
Gerald's Game.

Shawshank, Green Mile and Misery were awesome.

The worst adaption was Needfull Things. It was really a waste of time the way they did it. For those who never read the book, the movie left them confused and for those who did read it, the move irratated them. I was one of those who was fully irratated. They didn't even bother trying to develop any of the chracters so the storyline made no sense at all.

His books that would make great movies:

Gerald's Game
I think a movie would be great for that. I would love to see the creature that the studio would create.

Rose Madder
Yes the story of the abused wife has been done over and over but none with the twist that Stephen King put in that book.

The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, and 1408 are my favorite movies made from King novels. The first two, in my opinion, were great stories that weren't exactly "typical" King stories. I think that made them more adaptable to the big screen. I love most all of Stephen King's work, but most of it just doesn't translate to movie form very well. 1408, however, seemed to break that mold. I hope the Mist continues to do the same but i haven't seen it yet.

The Dead Zone with Chris Walken is a classic interpretation.
So is Dolores Clairborne. And I just loved The Night Flier. Miguel Ferrer was outstanding.
Storm of the Century was a truly harrowing piece of work...the best King mini-series along with Salem's Lot....the first version.
Diary of Ellen Rimbauer was an excellent sequel which outdid its predecessor Rose Red. Sublime.

I would love to see 'The Long Walk' (he did under the pseudinym Richard Bachman) done. But I am afraid in this sad climate of school shootings...it will never happen.
And I would love to see Mrs. Todd's Shortcut...a story from Skeleton Crew...done. This is King in fine form and I consider it one of his top three short stories...of all time. A beautiful piece of fantasy/horror/sci-fi...with an ending that stayed with me for weeks afrterward. Perfect storytelling....and if done right would make a good addition to an anthology format done via minseries.
