I got a new boyfreind about a week ago. His name is Mitch. He's about 6"1, has the most gorgeous blue eyes, light brown hair, he's on the football team, and he's the nicest guy ever. I really like him, and he really likes me, but he's still friends with the girlfriend he had before me. I'm ok with that, but she always tries to flirt with him. I've talked to him about it, but he said I was being paranoid, and that he loves me, not her. It really bugs me, and I want her to back off. Can you help me?

Well ok fine I don't love him yet but I really like him, and want his relationship to work. They broke up 8 months ago. He doesn't seem like he's flirting with her at all, but got pretty defensive when we talked about it.

Well, you brought it to him, which is a good thing, and he dismissed it as you being paranoid, which is a bad thing. Why did they break up? How heavy is the flirting? Does he seem to be trying to keep it from you or is he open about it?
I would be a bit salty if my girlfriend was still all friendly with her ex myself.
Consider these questions, and if he gets secretive about it, confront him a little more aggressively. If he dismisses you again or gets angry, call it off.

How can you or him say that you love each other when you have only been together for a week. And he just broke up with his girlfriend? Honey, he is not only a player on the field he is a player off the field. Get away from him as far away as possible. He is not over his girlfriend, and probably wont be for a while. Take some time don't be in such a rush to be in a relationship. Enjoy life, take each day as it comes, date lots of different people and some day you will meet that special guy that is into you as much as you are into him.
