I don't have one particular hobby. SOmetimes I feel like sewing, then I won't for months, then I feel like painting, or cake decorating, or making ceramics, or design bouquets. I just love crafts period. I guess "crafting" is my hobby... hmmm... You just put that in perspective for me, Thanks!

I'm learning to crochet, and I like that I can do it anywhere - in the car, in front of the TV when my husband's watching football, on vacation...
Plus, it's pretty cheap to get started, and guess what everyone is getting for Christmas? Heh. If you look through some books, you'll find some cool things beyond just scarves and potholders.
I also sew and quilt, but that's not a very cheap hobby, and definitely not portable.

You could consider model railroading. While it's not considered a feminine hobby, I know of at least 3 women who enjoy building the buildings and setting up scenes. HO scale seems to be the most enjoyable for my wife. She builds and paints all of my buildings and people.
Model railroading lasts a lifetime.

Beading is fun. The history and variety of beads is fascinating and you can start as simple as a single string and get as complicated as you want. Try your local library for some books.

You should def. try photography, it's awesome! You can take pictures of yourself if you want, and almost anything. I love taking pictures, I don't have an expensive camera or anything either, i just use my cellphone.. And painting is pretty cool too. Fun and messy, and you can be creative.

I raise fiber animals and spin and knit their fiber. We have angora goats, sheep, and an angora rabbit. I am also collecting the fur from one of my three cats.
