the reason i asked is because i called the doctor to make an appointment to get checked up but my last period was on October 23 so i still haven't technically missed a period... but it never comes at the same date anyway... but they told me they couldn't see me because its too soon and that i need to take another test because the two that i took can be wrong! i mean has this happened to anyone when the test comes out positive but you're not pregnant?

If you took a test now at the doctors office, it probably would not be accurate...it's just too soon. There's a pregnancy hormone that's released when you become pregnant, but pregnancy happens over about a two week time span, it's not immediate.

Try a different brand of test!

You could have been pregnant even when you had your period on October 23. Some women still get their periods in the beginning of their pregnancy (and some women have it the whole pregnancy). Make a Dr. appt ASAP. If you don't like that doctor, call and make an appointment at another OB/GYN. Make sure you are comfortable with your doctor. They will do a blood test that is 100% accurate in telling you if you are pregnant or not.

Good luck!

having a false positive is VERY unlikely.. your doctors office was rude to not make an appointment! The only way I could think you would have a false positive is if you waited tooo long to look at the result. My sister took one, and it was negative at first, and then she waited 15 min or so, looked at it again, and it had a positive line! but the test had a disclaimer on it that said "anything after 10 minutes is not an indication of pregnancy"
so make sure the second line is showing up right away.
I think you are pregnant, and I'd call ur doctor again and demand an appointment!
good luck and congrats!

You probably conceived BEFORE your last period and it was a false period. Call the doc back and let them know your last period could have been false. They should be able to order a blood test. But it looks like you are pregnant! If you really want to be sure, wait 2 days and test again.

It is possible to have a false positive. A lady at my work took a home test which was positive and then got a blood test the next day and it was negative. Turned out she ovulated and the surge of LH confused the test.

you're right, they could have at least given you a test themselves. however, it is not impossible to have a false positive. I don't know why everyone says that! I had a false positive 2 years ago, and I missed a period but I wasn't pregnant.....strange. 2 positives though? I don't know how common it is for both to be false positives....of course, even if you really are pregnant, most offices wont want to see you until you are 8 weeks along, so you would have to wait until the middle of december to go in anyway.

You are most likely pregnant! It's very rare to have a false positive, especially two.

My doctor didn't even see me til I was 8 weeks. I think that's how most doctors are. So if that's the only thing you're annoyed about, don't be. But, if you didn't like how you were treated, look for a new doctor. You will have to spend alot of time at their office and on the phone with them over the next 8+ months, so you should be happy!

It could be a defective batch (they would be in the same box) so I say go get a different brand of test and check again. If it's another positive call your Md's office and tell them you are pregnant and need to make an appointment. They should know that they can do a blood test to determine if you are pregnant now.

If your Md is your ob/gyn I would see if you could find another before you are too far along. You never want to doubt the judgment of your ob/gyn (esp with baby #1)

There are not usually false positives. This would be very rare. especially to have two come false positive so I think it is safe to say that you are pregnant. They do not usually see you for an appt till you are 8-12 weeks along. They can tell better then since you usually get your first ultrasound then.

Sometimes doctors can be really rude....

There is such a thing as a false positive. I've heard of it, but never known anyone that's had one. It's rare, but there can be several reasons for it. Check out the link! I hope it helps!

the test could be wrong. I had a friend that had the same thing happen to her without the rude doctors.
