What would be a rule you would like to see changed?Getting rid of the 2 line pass rule has made the game much better.

Daven71 good point but they did punish the pitchers by lowering the mound in the late '60s and in the NBA they punished Chamberlein and later Jabaar by expanding the free throw box also in the NFL they punished the field goal kickers by taking there tees away.

I've got two, both involving penalties:

1) Get rid of the "coincidental minors" rule where penalties cancel one another. If two guys get roughing calls, then it should be 4-on-4. It makes the game far more exciting, and would inject more scoring that is still sorely needed.

2) A player's penalty shouldn't end automatically if the team on the powerplay scores a goal. If you get a two-minute penalty, you should be in the box for the whole time. Again, why does the NHL insist on this silly rule that punishes scoring?

Anything they can do to increase scoring should be done. The league has been better since the strike, but there are still too many games with few scoring chances.

The automatic delay of game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass. It usually happens on the PK and then the team is down two men. It is certainly not intentional when it happens as the cost is so high. At least leave it up to the ref's discretion. A team that wants to delay the game intentionally can still shoot the puck into the benchs.

The second one - get rid of the instigator suspension rule. It has not cleaned up the game in fact it is probably dirtier as players no longer need to fear the enforcer.

I think that the icing should be eliminated if there's a play on the puck; that is, if a player form the team that dumped the puck has a player in the zone before the puck is touched, let it go on - something could happen. Icing should only occur when the puck crosses the goal line and there's no one form the dumping team in the zone.

Bring back the two line pass rule. I don't see how removing it has made the game better. Opened up scoring to keep fair weathered fans more entertained an attract corporate interest (which equals bucks for teams and NHL). If a game doesn't appeal to one the way it was intended then people should find a sport that suits them. I mean geez... then why don't we just penalize pitchers in baseball for tossing no hitters or shutouts... I mean come on... we don't want to see brilliant defense and well timed offense in hockey but sports fans are okay being put to sleep by a shutout in other sports.

Dumb rule...needs to go back to the way it was.

Instigator, the goalie trapezoid, change to no-touch icing, copy a page out of basketball and call illegal defense on neutral zone traps. The strategy is very effective and it works, but it's sooooo bloody boring.

I would like to see the delay of game rule completly eliminated. I mean, its not like the players shoot the puck over the glass on purpose. Ya, I think Ill shoot the puck over so that I can stop play even though if it doesnt go over, it will still be out of my zone so it wont even matter!!!! goodness me!!! lol. Its the stupidest rule they have ever come up with... stupid stupid stupid
