would the name Nicholas Anthony ___ (last name is 4 syllables) be too long? and too much of a mouthful? I have a nephew named Joseph Jarrett Alexander (insert last name) so long name's aren't uncommon in the family...
Just looking for peoples opinions

I love it! Don't worry about length, as others have said he most likely won't be going by his full name.
Great choices! Congrats and good luck!

Nicholas Anthony is nice. Two real names, unambigously male, and spelled correctly. Nobody uses the middle name, so it a question of how Nicholas sounds with your last name. It would sound great with McAlister, I don't think 4 syllables is a lot.
Just watch the monogram. NAB, NAM, NAT might be hard to handle.

Of course not! Unless you plan on calling him "Nicholas Anthony Longlastname," in full, 100% of the time. ;) Honestly, I don't think there's any problem with a name having a larger number of syllables. Now if you wanted to use six middle names or something, THAT would be too lengthy. LOL

I think you're safe.

I like it. I don't think it would be too long at all. I just stuck a 4 syllable last name I know in the blank and said it out loud. It sounded just fine and not too cumbersome at all.

Most of the time, people will call him Nick, so a long last name after that wouldn't be a problem. Then, when he does use the entire name, it sounds very classy. I wouldn't let fears of its length stop you.

(director NIck Cassavettes is an example that fits!)

I like it I think you should use it if you really like. I have a son names Lawrence Nicholas, but our last name is only 5 letters so ... anyway I like it

I don't think it would be too long at all. Nicholas is a cute name. A bit overused, but still cute.
