if you want to teach preschool you don't need any more training. but, you will be making 9 bucks an hour for the rest of your life and you won't have summers off.

if you want to become an art teacher, you could probably have your teaching cert in about a year's worth of courses, and one semester of student teaching. there are some colleges out there that offer teaching licenses on an accelerated program, but usually those are for specific subjects (like math and science). call a college in your area that is known for their education program and ask if they offer a "post-baccalaureate certification program"...let them know you have a degree in art and would like to get your certificate.

good luck!

To be called teacher and get slightly more money you'll need certification. Pre-schools employ aides. if you have clean background you would have good chance of getting job as aide. State requirements differ for certification. Your going to need some classes in child development. Shop schools to see which will give you the the most credits already earned.

A teaching degree and one also in child development will get you there. Four more years of school for you, unless you double up and take classes year round. You may be able to be done in two or three years.

You have to call the CT Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to find this out. You will need to get your initial teaching certification. If you have not worked with children at all, you're going to have to do four years of schooling to pull it off. If you have worked with children, you may be able to compromise on that. But you're still going to need at -least- two.

That is ok.
You can just get a teaching certificate.
