Are we talking America as our country and people from other countries who come into America? Better explain your question better. You have more space available to explain yor question.
Any answer to this question is likely to be wrong because the question is not clear. If you are talking about people in USA, you should knowthat today the majority of people living in this great country is from other countries including those who are supposed to be the makers of this governmental structure. Where do native Indians come in your picture?
America is like a salad bowl where different groups of ethnicity regularly meet only among their own crowds and rarely meet for a national cause.
What is their wishes you are talking about? As one of the person who raised the issue of Spanish people not learning English language, why don't you spell it out. In which case, the disadvantage is only for them. But they seem to manage quite well, doing what they are doing. Their success in many instances can be attributed to hardwork, sensible spending and daring enterprise. If you feel you need their help, you learn Spanish. It is ro your advantange.

In general people coming to other countries try their best to fit in, if there are any exceptions to the rule it is because some might feel like strangers and isolated. It's a defense mechanism of theirs if you see them being loud or defensive. In fact what they want the most is to fit in but at the same time not wanting to lose their identity.

Does everyone in "our" country do things the same way??

I always wonder why people say this, because WE don't even all do things the exact same way as one another, so what culture would someone that comes to this country follow? (I'm in America, i don't know if you're talking about America or not)

There are plenty cultures just from the people that are from here. different styles of dress, music, religion and thoughts...

So basically when you say they should adapt to "our" way, you mean, the lifestyle YOU have or believe is normal, not everyone...

When I was in Europe, I HAD to adapt to their cultures & wishes. Everywhere I went, it had to be theirs! Not mine. Their laws. Not mine. Even in Mexico. Same thing. They are even more strict than we are, I think that is the reason why they expect us to adapt to them. We are too easy! I have to also say that I love those people and most of Europe is beautiful! YOU need to go visit!
