This is not a fashion question. This is about staying safely warm when outside in harsh winter conditions for extended peroids of time. Coveralls are really warm on bitter cold days. But sometimes one pair doesn't quite seem like enough. I'm wondering if its comfortable and practical to wear two or more pairs of full-coverage, insulated coveralls (like the kind Dickies or walls Make)?

While you may be warm with layering 2 insulated coveralls, even if they fit well, you will feel fairly bulky and if you get too warm, you are stuck with losing 50% of your coverage by taking 1 off.
It's more versatile and comfortable to layer several thinner, but warm materials and just have 1 thicker insulator to guard against wind or precipitation. The newer synthetics are amazingly effective. Silk and very fine wool can also be used as a few of the layers, but aren't as good anymore. You must cover your head and ears if you really want to stay warm, but mobile.

That should work fine if the outer coveralls are big enough You need to try them on the way you are going to use them -- layered. If you are squeezed into them, they will be uncomfortable AND not as warm, as it is trapped air that provides most of the insulation. So getting the proper sizes is all important. Have you tried duotherm underwear? That adds a lot of warmth with less bulk.

Time to invest in some under armour. And you can layer with a lightweight cotton shirt between the under armour and the coveralls.
