When you upload a file, it is the same as copying it to another directory only you are doing this over to another computer that is receiving the file. When the other computer (the server) receives it, it sets up permissions where they have read access to that file. It is only a copy, your original is still on your machine and if you make changes to that file the only way for the other person to see them is to re-upload it again.

You have to give them the location of the file. I think you will need to be more specific to get a good answer to this one. Where are you putting the file?
