Reborn,
I am going to come back to this question later and chew on the topic and the way it was posed.

A word of promise from one former Marine to another.

Edit Update: Reborn - I am back as promised. All I can say first is that YOU are the better person. The best thing may in fact be another job; however, from a position of pride I would certainly understand if this was NOT what you wanted to do. Pulling stunts back on this person only puts you down to his/her level - you are obviously above that and as you know that too is out of the question.

In the end "We are who we are" and you can only "Do what you can do and as you do naturally". Unfortunately this other person does not value you or your deeds and all the effort in the world to change this person will only yield wasted effort.

From one Marine to another all I can say is to encourage you to do as you do naturally. To never forget where you come from, nor where you have been. These words were once spoken to me as I met Mr. Alexander Haley, Jr. as I stood in front him decked out in my Dress Blues and as I approached him for his signature our conversation ensued. Imagine, a figure like Mr. Haley taking time to speak with me - a half Irish kid looking for a way to pay for college!

Thank you for your service to our Country and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Semper Fi,
Gerry

Honestly?

I have had numerous incidences with folks like this.
Each time, I claim Isaiah 41:8-13 - believing - everyday... and the Lord has always been faithful to remove my detractors is short order.

Isaiah 41:8-13
Israel, you are my servant. I chose you, the family of my friend Abraham.
From far across the earth I brought you here and said, "You are my chosen servant. I haven't forgotten you."
Don't be afraid. I am with you. Don't tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories.
Everyone who hates you will be terribly disgraced; those who attack will vanish into thin air.
You will look around for those brutal enemies, but you won't find them because they will be gone.
I am the LORD your God. I am holding your hand, so don't be afraid. I am here to help you.

He's never failed me!

Peace.

Nobody can undermine your virtuous deeds. There may be the perception that he/she is, but only YOU know your intent, therefore there's nothing to undermine.
