So I recently got a 2008 Honda Civic LX and read in the manual that you can change the display on the radio to say the name of the song or who sings it or whatever but I cant figure it out. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

On the LX you can only set the Welcome message that comes up when you enter the car. you can do that by following the instructions in the owner's manual (below)
Your audio system displays a welcome message on the display when you
turn the ignition switch to the ACCESSORY (I) or the ON (II) position. You can see a message ‘‘WELCOME’’ on the display when your vehicle was new.

You can also customize this welcome message to your liking with the audio controls.

You can set up to about 16 characters on the display.

To select a character:
Make sure the audio system is off.

Push and hold the TUNE knob, then push the power/volume knob on the audio control panel. You will see the first letter blinking

Turn the TUNE knob to change aletter.

Push the top of the SEEK button to select the next segment, then turn the TUNE knob to select a letter. Repeat this procedure to set your message.

To change the letter, select the previous segment by pushing the bottom of the SEEK button.

The system will return to the audio display about 5 seconds after you stop selecting a letter

as for having the artist and song displayed, you either have to have a subscription to XM radio or have the Navigation system with the Navi Audio set to Artist mode.

If you don't have XM radio or the Navi you won't be able to change the display to show the artist and song. However, you can still customize the welcome message.

hope that answers your question.

Sipper. These cars are great on gas as my 2006 Ex Civic gets 36mpg on average. Call it sipper cause it just sips the gas.
