If you're scared, others may be too. Telling your mother was the right thing.
Calling the police would be a good thing, too. If this is something that's happening over and over, they will hopefully send a police officer to stop this person and figure out what's going on. It may be nothing; it may be someon who should be locked up.

You'll need facts to file a report. What kind of van? What is it's license plate number? When do you see it around?
Carry your camera in your book bag and take pictures the next time you see it.

Call the police now.

If you can get the license number if you see the van again, but call the police each time you see it.

If there is an innocent reason for them to be there the police will talk to them and find out.

Call the police, explain your concern. Better safe then sorry.
You always have the right to call them, it is their duty to protect the public, that means you. Besides, if ya feel he is a threat, he'll at least get checked out when they run his license. Should there ever be a prob, there will be some record of a complaint. So by all means CALL.

Be sure to get a good description of the van and the license number. It could be something perfectly innocent but it could be dangerous also. Go ahead and report it to the police. They can check it out to make sure. That's what they get paid for - to prevent crime.

got camera phone/camera? snap a picture of the van, try to get the liscense plate, and a picture of the driver if you can. then take said pictures to the police. no camera? write down the license plate number and take just that. also the make and model of the van if you can, but the police should be able to get that from the license number.

You did the right thing to tell your mom. Try not to be out alone in your neighborhood alone until you're sure this isn't a stalker or something, and don't go out after dark.

sounds like someone needs to call the local PD and ask them to increase the patrol during the times that you saw this white van, after all our taxes pay their saleries
