Why is there no "N Word" equivalent for whites?

Question

All the racial terms for caucasians are rather silly, and have no real fire or sting behind them. But every other ethnicity has a horribly derogatory term that is inherently demeaning and derogatory. Why is it, in all the centuries of justified hatred between the various minorities and the racial majority, that not one single term with real teeth has been devised?

i have my own theories, but I want to hear yours.

Not that it should matter, but I feel I should mention that I'm black. Technically of mixed race, but black enough that I can't get a cab to stop.

I have no idea why there are no better stinging words than white trash,or whitey,or cracker etc
I do know that the slang used to offend Negroids comes from in part the Racial descrip that being '*******' it became what it is because of illiterates,and later just plain hateful people. It also came from a very real word meaning to become dirty. The latter word drifting down from the more educated North the former one drifting up and outward from mostly the South.
But even after the so called freeing of the slaves by Lincoln it had NOTHING to do with the slaves of the North thus the slangs were perpetuated by the victors of the war of the rebellion created around the world the ill notion the N slang was appropriate.
Thus it is the most stinging of all such of any people anywhere.
I wish MLK Sr were alive so you could ask him this rather interesting question,especially since he was an educated man of honor,and of hope and love for all people-not sitting around trying to think up new ways to divide us.

Uh... Both words are slang in today's modern American speech, and both are a derogatory term to refer to someone of a specific race. The difference is that one word has been used for a very long time, and one was created as a sort of ''comeback'' word. Now, what you're saying is that it's worse to call a Black person ''The N Word'' than it is to call a white person a ''cracker''? That statement is purely subjective, and different people will hold different opinions. Because this is a subjective question to which there is no true answer, my opinion is that both of those words are nothing more than mere words, and shouldn't hurt or offend anyone. However, both words do nothing but create controversy, and I try my hardest to steer clear of that.

It's really quite simple! black people were subjugated, and being subjugated, were perceived as being totally inferior. Their enslavers were white, and it goes without saying, held the lives of their black slaves in the hands. They could use any term when talking about their slaves.
***** is a perfectly acceptable term, as is Caucasian. ***** become N****r, which in turn came to personify 'inferiority', because all ****** were slaves, or potential slaves.
The slaves on the other hand, were confronted by their white masters, and would not have dared to use any kind of derogatory term when talking about whites. Though I'm certain they used a few under their breath.

That can depend on where you live and your age. In my generation, I am 47, being called "sorry" or "white trash" was equivalent too or worse than the "N" word. I have talked to others about this and they seem to agree that it may be a local thing and the younger generations do not seem to get the connection. I live in north GA.
I think all words associated with race are mainly class oriented. Everyone wants to be superior by setting themselves apart. Race just helps in doing that.

Your worrying about the wrong thing!! Don't bring yourself down to there level. BTW I'm Chickasaw Indian / Irish / dutch and my gf is African American / Cherokee Indian and we have a son and 1 on the way.. when someone cause me "white boy" I don't answer or when someone cause me a racial slur like cracker or honkey which hasn't happened since I was in school and they was hatin cause i took their gf or had more money than them so I just walked off I DON'T CARE WHAT SOMEONE SAYS IT'S WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME THEN WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

well, it seems to be that other races really don't spend to much time trying to come up with a derogatory name for white people.We're kinda busy trying to live instead of coming up with ways to make ourselves feel superior to another race. ALso cracker is not the equivalent because it was given to whites by whites.It was the term given to the white men that whipped the slaves.

the premise of your question is flawed. why does "the N word" have "real fire or sting behind" it? The word is derived from "*****" which basically means "black" -- so the words themselves don't carry any sting, it's the connotations and historical associations that get imported with the word which bring the sting.

Because with whites, the derogatory remarks are made against their nationality, not race. ie. "dumb mic, greasy italian, french snob, etc."

I Suspect that the reason we dont have a word(im mixed to)is the word "******" has been around sense slavery days and i couldn't imagine a Black person thinking of a word to call his master that would be Disrespectful he would have been brutally killed if word came out about it!.... ****** means nothing to me because the true meaning only refers to Ignorance and NOT race. Only Butt scratching,Live in a Trailer,i Sleep with my family Member-Red NECKS still refer to black people as"******"

Plus history and information distribution has been modified to condition non-European descendants to Idolize its phenotype and at the same time not question European descendant subtitle and/or open supremacy in a mobile non-tolerant manner.
