i'm a young woman (24) and i just read a book called The Memory Keepers Daughter but i can't remember who it was by. I'm a mother of 2 and this book kept me turning the pages, it's all about a man who is a Dr. and his wife. He delivers his wife's baby in a snow storm except it turns out to be twins and they didn't know. when the second baby is born he sees that the baby has down's syndrome, so he keeps the healthy baby and gives the second baby to the nurse and tells her to take it away to one of those places (this is like the 60's i think). so the nurse takes the baby and keeps her! and leaves town! and raises her. and the dr tells his wife that the second baby died and it tells the story of their whole life, the wife's grief, and the dr keeping the secret, and the nurse raising the baby etc. it was good.....

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
The China Garden by Liz Berry
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
anything by Tamora Pierce
anything by Robin McKinley
the first Princess Diaries book by Meg Cabot. I didn't think the others in the series were as good, but I loved the first one.
Dangerous Angels and everything else by Francesca Lia Block

~The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyers
~The Uglies Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld
~ The Midnighters Series by Scott Westerfeld (really anything by him lol)
Most novels by Sarah Dessen are also very good. My favorites are:
~The Truth About Forever
~Just Listen
~This Lullaby
~Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (this is the first in a collection of books, but I don't enjoy the others as much as this one xp)
~Maximum Ride by James Patterson is funny and a quick read.
~Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit

The Elm Creek Quilter Series...this is for more of an older reader...I would call transitional...late teen early 20's.

Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse are also very good but, they are Vampire books (but, of a romance nature not a horror nature) So, if this person wants more of Horror it would not be the best books but, if she wants romance...then she would love them.

Anything by V.C. Andrews. Her books are twisted, dramatic, and mysterious. It will keep you guessing what's going to happen next. I've been reading her books for a few years now and have just finished her recent one called "Secrets in the Attic".........it was pretty good. I highly recommend it.

anything by Tamora Pierce,(fant) or Garth Nix,(fant) i still love reading them
also the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson (Sci Fi)
Mrs Murphy murder mystery's by Rita Mae Brown (myst)
and depending on your definition of young adult if teens then these are good for age group
if not and its more late teens into 20's i would recommend J.D Robb,(adv, romance) Kay Hooper, and Jayne Ann Krentz (mystery, romance)

good luck and happy reading
