I wish I could tell your 7 year old that I am going to blink my eyes like Jeannie on I dream of Jeanie and make it happen. Unfortunately I can't do that. If I could do it. I would have done it a long time ago. Have a great Thanksgiving.

It's because their mommies didn't listen to their questions and try to help them figure it out. You are so sweet to care about his questions. Children are very curious about the world and are often told to be quiet. Then when they go to school, and it is time to ask questions, they say nothing because they have been trained to view asking questions as a bad thing.

My mom always tried to answer my questions, just like you;re doing for your son. I am mean sometimes, but I always go back to being nice.

Because some mean people think that it's fun to be mean. They enjoy being mean too much to actually consider having nice friends to enjoy them! Misery enjoys company! If that's not a good enough reason, then I don't know what is! If your little boy figures it out, then I will definitely have to hear his conclusion. Ha Ha! Happy Thanksgiving to you folks!

tell him that there isnt "mean" people and "nice" people. theres only people that do mean things and those who do nice things. and the ones that do mean things cant help it sometimes because they are angry and sad and a little messed up in the head. but that there is always room for change.
tell your son, although it might be hard to follow for a seven year old.

I believe mean people are just immature Souls who have not yet learned how to love. I believe they'll get there, but some may take a long, long time, like many lifetimes. In the meantime, humor helps. Tell your son, with a chuckle that there's only one or two really mean nasty people in the world. Of course, they move around a lot. LOL.

Say that they don't want to change back because they don't understand that being nice is what makes people like you and want to help you.

I think that beause he's too young to fully understand a concept like why some one is mean and why they cant just start being nice, you should tell him that they were mean because people didnt treat him/her fairly, and he/she is angry because of that. You should also encourage you child to continue to respect that person, because that can teach them to be nice, even if someone hasn't been nice to them.

Some people do. But they need a reason to do so. Usually, there is a reason that turned them mean in the first place.
