I live in my native Kentucky and don't enjoy it. People are closed-minded and cliquish. I don't like Keeneland, the Ky. Derby, U. of Ky. athletics, the horse industry, hot browns, Ky. accents, and country music crap (it's okay to not know what they are.) So, I have literally been told and made to feel like I'm not accepted for most of my life.

TEXAS, on the other hand, is great! I have a "Misplaced Texan" bumper sticker on my car, which has incurred hook 'em horns signs from passers-by. I love Lyle Lovett, the Astros, Texas' geographical diversity, corn nuggets, U. of Tx. Longhorns...oh, and all those pretty women. I get along w/ most Texans I meet, especially Houstonians.

Houston and D/FW are booming, period. KY is still just meeting status quo; it is in the bottom 20% in job growth, employment, income, and education. I want to be an urban planner. I know how to party in a sophisticated manner, yet just be friendly and laid-back.

Is Texas my match? Thanks!

Sounds like it..why dont you make the move to Texas if you like it so much and there are plenty of job opportunities for you. Texas is a beautiful state and most all of the people are so friendly. Take it from a Hoosier that moved to Texas 4 years ago, it was the best thing I ever did and I dont regret it at all.

I live here and I would rather live anywhere else in the world...just not texas! You'll learn VERY quickly that this is not an enviorment to thrive in unless you like being surrounded materialistic things and people 24/7. Neighbors dont talk to eachother, ever. Everyone is on defense mode. If i could change back time, i would have emancipated from my parents before moving here.

If I were you, I would try Austin. It is a growing city and not as big as DFW yet. I have never been to Houstan. One of my sister's live in Dallas and the other in Austin.

Fly out there for a weekend and check it out!
