It varies from person to person. The more periods you have the more you learn about what is normal for you. Some people have heavy discharge between periods, when they are ovulating, and can experience some mild pain and discomfort in one side. Some women will start to have light 'spotted' discharge two or three days before their period starts. Before a very first period discharge varies greatly and can start and stop a few times before the period ever starts.

it really depends on your cycle.. there would be different kind of discharge if your fertile or not...
