According to comparibility figures, the MLB has taken over the second spot as America's most popular sport in 2002 and it hasn't looked back. It is based on merchandise, revenue, and tv ratings and other things like that. In the 90's NBA ruled the second spot and the MLB seemed like it was going to go broke so what do you attribute tturn of events to? I think it has been the level of play and ghetto players of the NBA which have lost the fans with the big pocket books, what do you think?

wow... nice racist comment you threw in there. yeah you're right baseball has noooo problems with it right now at all. barry bonds is a saint and a great ambassador for not only baseball but sports in general. plus the level of play in baseball is totally not attributed to the fact that the league has been juicing for a long time now... nah! that couldn't be it at all. for basketball to get the number two spot i think the league should allow usage of steroids... play approximately (give or take a game) another 80 games in a season (which mean more ratings, revenue, and merchandise sales for your baseball stats) add 28 players to each roster, which a lot of these players come from third world countries... or international ghettos if that make more sense to you. lost big pocket books... hmmm oh yeah last three mvps... white and not from the united states (nash is canadian for those that don't know) and right now some of the best players in the league are from overseas? yeah... i don't remember baseball having much of a cap, because a-rod was looking for a $300 million plus contract, but is a great guy so is settling for $270 or $280 mil instead. get bent. you like baseball? congrats. I like basketball. take your racist question and stats and leave it in the trash were it belongs.

The NBA is simply a garbage product, with players who mostly mail in performances and only a handful of top stars worth the excessive cost for a ticket. That there are numerous 20-plus point blowouts in the first few weeks of the season says it all.

MLB - despite Selig - has climbed into the second slot due in part to the individual teams marketing stars to fans and having at least some sections of tickets affordable for families that are not in the last row of the parking garage across the street from the stadium. Parity through the fourth division - the wild card races - has also kept more teams in the playoff hunt, making it easier to sell a product to fans.

I think that the NBA was severely hurt by the brawl at Auburn Hills. It made many people turn away because they began to view the NBA as a league full of thugs.

Becuase we have watched the NBA turn into a thug playground in the rocker park. The NBA went from guys in suits that could speack English to a bunch of mush mouths with their pants around their ankles.

Well a lot had to do with Michael Air Jordan retiring...Some people say that the NBA will never be the same without him.
