Well lets see .... My boss who is gonna make me work until 3PM on Thanksgiving Day .... although he didn't have to .... is a BIG Turkey and he weighs about 267 pounds...... his drumsticks could feed the block for 2 weeks.

The average is 15 or 16 pounds. Back when all my aunts and uncles and all my cousins get together we cooked two 25 pound turkeys. Now everyone is scattered all over the world an 8 pounder is too much. Ah the good old days.

Actually, there was a piece on TV about turkeys the other day and they mentioned somewhere around 15 lbs as the average.
Personally, I never cared much for the humongous birds for T/giving, they always seemed to have less flavor or something than the smaller ones. Probably just how they were fixed, but that's how I perceive it.

I never get less than a 20 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving because I love leftovers and I freeze it and have it later. This year, I'm cooking a 22 lb. turkey for dinner and I'm cooking another turkey (20 lbs.) the day after.

About 90% but the rates have been changing lately due to the increase of other alternatives for turkeys, ex- ham Millions of Americans are spending the holiday at home, saying the poor economy has made it unaffordable to hit the road or board a plane. They also may be spending less on food, which is the other cause of the absence of the turkey on Thanksgiving.

Average would be about 14 lbs. On the low end --there are 12 pounders and the highest ones are about 22 lbs.

I am not exactly sure what the average one weighs I wanted a small one and the smallest I could find was 13 lbs.

12-18 lbs. The biggest I have had was 36 lbs.
