supposed to look at each other? Has there ever been a more ridiculous story, other than the ones we may hear in the answers here as people try to twist the story to fit their twisted thinking?

The Bible is just a fairy tale. So is the Koran and the Torah and all the major books that form the basis of organized religion. Religion is simply a creation of men -- generally the intellectual elites to control the masses. Think about it, there's one common thread. You have some airy fairy - God, Allah, Bhudda, Jahweh, etc. You get a book with a set of rules. Follow the rules, good things happen. Violate the rules, bad things happen. Pretty simple s***. If you don't leave your brain at the door, you're going to have a tough time with religion.

Historically, people have always oriented themselves towards these myths or "stories" as an explanation for that which they cannot explain... Can you *totally* disprove them one way or the other? Certain facets of the myth, possibly, but again... Looking through the "scientific" perspective, is the "big bang" the best explanation we have?

Personally, I think any possibility is just as valid... just as those in Quantum Physics believe in an infinite multitude of dimensions... That blows *my* mind. It's all very unknown and mysterious!

On "creation myths", I think they serve to explain the how humanity continues to screw things up. God did not create Adam and Eve to not look at each other. It was not until they ate from the tree of knowledge that suddenly they came to the conclusion that the naked body was bad and must be kept hidden. Now we have all these sexual taboos and repression issues... I think we were warned, but didn't pay attention!

Well, it is only a myth so it really doesn't matter. And like all myths and fairy tales, they can be rewritten and retold to suit a particular audience and the ideas of the raconteur.
A lot of religious people do not take the genesis stories literally anymore but there will always be those who take every biblical account unquestionably.

It is hard to reconcile that Adam & Eve were the worlds only two people, since after thier son Caine killed Able, he was banished from Eden and according to the book of Genesis he traveled to 'Nod' where he 'knew his wife'.

We are humans living on a giant ball and only gravity is keeping us from flying off into space. Anything is possible because who would have thought we could live on a ball shaped object?

According to the Bible story, they were allowed to look at each othey. In fact, they did all the time. However, eating the forbidden fruit didn't just bring sin into the world. It caused them to be self contious. That is why they began wearing clothes. Not because they weren't allowed to see each other, but because they didn't want the other to see them.
At least according to the story....

if your question is meant to make christians ponder the literal truth of their bible, you can forget it. besides, there are those who know these stories are allegorical, and there are those who will NEVER see them as anything but the literal word of their god. if you don't believe me, try asking this question in the religion and spirituality section...
