I am going to go out on a limb here (but I am serious) and say...

The Tampa Bay Rays are the team to beat this year.

They have a great young team, with speed, power, and great defense at the bigs and in the minor league system. They have some good pitchers (Kazmir, 239 K's best in AL 2nd best in ML) and Edwin Jackson, a flamethrower that can be a top power pitcher despite a rough 2007 season. They also have David Price, the number one draft pick coming up.He may start at TB next year, or come up after a little bit in AAA. Carl Crawford is a speed demon who will give you triples, doubles, and home runs and steal 50+ bases every year. B.J. Upton is joining Crawford as a top outfielder, while Delmon Young is an emerging power threat. If and when they Carlos Pena back, they will have a 40-50 HR a year guy, hopefully. They need to improve their bullpen this offseason, but otherwise they look ready to be a top team in '08.

Absolutely Boston. they have the whole team returning and I think that they have something up their sleeves. Santana, anyone? Manny, Drew and Lugo all had bad years, and if they perform up to par they should win the ALEast by 10. Blue Jays 2nd, NYY 3rd.
AL Central again will be MLB's best division with Detroit the team to beat. Indians overachieved last year but will be good, and if the ChiSox get Torii Hunter they could be in it.
Anaheim will win the West, but they have the same old problem. Vlad then what?
Sorry NL. You will again be mediocre.

I have to say AL fans are waaay too self absorbed (and I am one). Many of you didn't even respond with an NL Team!

I think it's the Red Sox, Indians and Angels, and maybe the Tigers in that order in the AL. Yankees right now are 5th because they have lost more than they have added, and young pitchers take time to develop.

As for the NL, Mets, Rockies, Cubs, Padres and DBacks in that order. I think the Phillies will find a way to lose, and the Mets and Cubs could do the same, given their history, but time will tell.

Sucks to say this as a Jays fan, but it has to again be the Red Sox. They're the defending champs, and they should be back next year equally as strong if not stronger than this season. Dice-K has a year of experience in the majors under his belt, and their young kids should be better.

The Yankees should also again be tough, especially if they manage to somehow land Santana. That would be a killer for everyone else if it happens.

It's obviously the Yankees. No other team has improved as much. No other team in the last 30 years or more has EVER added 3 young studs to their pitching rotation. No other team has the best player in baseball. And remember you whiny Red Sux fans... we only finished 2 games behind you - even w/ your 14 1/2 game lead. Ortiz and Manny are your bread and butter and they are old and falling apart. Your 15 minutes of fame are up. Cubs over Yankees next year (Or Indians), but after that it's the Yanks for the next 10 years.

Dynasty once again. Deal w/ it Sox fans. The truth never goes away.

To Vertical: You forgot Evan Longoria. :)

I'd go with the sox but since there old and if they keep the same roster for years they will probably win the whole thing each year cause they are just that good. So next year i'll go with the Indians

The team with the best record.

Cleveland in the AL - the bullpen just got stronger and JoeBo may now be a set-up guy in the 8th & an occasional stopper...the everyday lineup is as good as any team's and there is a wealth of young pitching looking for roster spots.

Flip a coin in the NL and it comes up.....Los Angeles - there is a ton of young talent who will now get the guidance to shut up and play ball.

Has to be the Red Sox. They're coming back as a World Series team, trying to defend their title, and it wouldn't be much of a surprise if they won it again in 2008. Their pitching will also grab some teams and make their offense look like the Tigers when they only won 50 games.
