i think i may have you beat. my s.o. and i aren't speaking at the moment. he is so mad i just might be spending the day by myself.
my son and his fiancee broke up, got back together and broke up for good so i'm not sure if he's coming for the meal or not. (honestly, i almost hope he doesn't.)

Yes it is one hell of a mess, and you are the cause.

First, if you are cooking do the best you can to provide a good meal.

Second, relax and enjoy the time with your family and STOP TRYING TO MAKE EVERYTHING FREAKIN' PERFECT!!! You can't and the more you try the more you will ruin the day for yourself and everybody else. If anybody has an comments about your performance, smile and say "Well as a first timer at this, I understand there may have been some mistakes". Then announce that that person is going to show you how it is to be done properly at the next family gathering. That especially goes for your mother.

Lastly, it is good to be a boy sometimes. Mother's always want something different from their daughters. And for the fellas, "Never leave it up to your girl and mother to work things out because you are too big a coward to make sure they both treat each other in a respectful manner. You are the lynch pin in the two relationships...so man up!"

Thankfully I've been able to spread things out over the last couple of days and tomorrow. It is an awful lot of work for one meal and one day, but it IS an awesome meal! It's nice that you are thankful for your mom and grammy. I think that's why the tradition gets passed down. Try to delegate what you can, especially any cleaning, to the men and kids. They really can run a vacuum and dust rag pretty well. The kids can also decorate and set the table. Stick to the dishes you know everyone likes and remember that this too shall pass, but you'll get lots of compliments.

Oh I am stressing! This is the first time I have to do this by myself. We had to buy everything...which put a dent in our pocketbook. I don't know what I got myself into. I am freaking out because my bird is still frozen. I am very thankful for all the times my grandma and my mom cooked. I think next year someone else can do this lol. Good luck...Happy Thanksgiving!

i've got faith like I merely want to circulate out on a restruant because of the fact this twelve months I had to circulate to the save final minute and purchase each and every of the ingrediants for Thanksgiving and that i'm fortunate i found a mom of a few human beings i comprehend in any different case my bike could have been broken (i'm 12) and it could have been dark.

That's exactly why I dont enjoy the holidays..That is why its just going to be the 2 of us. There is no need for stress..and i'm not doing that scene any longer. I have no idea what is going to take place next month. I'm not making any plans. Let the 2 sons decide between them..and wherever they want to have this next one I will be glad to bring a dish. We use to have it at my house every year but I put my size 8 foot down this year..LOL

Just wait until you get the turkey farts! Left over turkey for a week too! lol

Don't stress, just be thankful you can spend time with your family, after this is all over you will have memories of the time spent with them, not the stress of the dinner mess.

If your stressed, try imagining the lives of all the other people in this world who don't have anything to cook or money to buy anything to cook. I think your situation will look less stressful when you put this in to perspective. Seriously - BE THANKFUL you have a turkey and other food to enjoy. Gobble-gobble!!
