I love to read because I've always had an open mind and a bit of a wild imagination. It's like watching a movie, but you get to choose the actors, and there's no crowd their ruining the moment. I read to escape reality (which is why I mostly read fantasy). I like to imagine it's me in the character's shoes, doing whatever thing s/he's doing, because whatever it is, it's out of the ordinary. If I didn't have my books throughout the day, my mind might explode from the pent up frustration and boredom (Maybe not explode, but the times I don't have my book is torture)
I have to say, it's impossible for me to choose favorites, because all of the good books are so different. I guess my favorite at the moment is the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, since that's what I'm reading now (I'm sure by next week, when I'm reading Anne Mcaffrey, It'll be the Dragons of Pern :) )

Escapism and information on subjects I am interested in. Red Storm Rising, introduced me to the works of Tom Clancy. The Pillars of Heaven and Earth, Ken Follet is my next read. I consume books on holiday in the sun. Read the Bourne books complete last year in Corfu.

Those who do not read books are not better than those who do not know how to read and write!
There are well over one hundred million books all over the world, so, I would have preferred you to ask:
"Which book are you reading now"?

I have to agree with the others, escape, imagination, They always say "the book is better than the movie" who ever started that, was smart,,,it's always disappointing to read the book then see the movie,,,,I just finished Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz,,I like to be scared =)

To be entertained; to discover the essentials of others' lives;
to learn more about animals and birds; to discover new and wonderful places to explore from their descriptions in books;
to visualise and fantasize and stimulate my imagination.
Currently my favourite book is 'The Wild Places' by Robert MacFarlane, and my favourite fiction book is 'The Whistling Song' by Stephen Beachy, though how fictional it really is, I
wouldn't hazard to guess.
