Honest! This is a serious issue that some residents are faced with!

This was done years ago and was overlooked by the authorities who should not have let this happen. It was intended to be a "private runway" on a very small piece of farm land. The question is about "safety". I'm only looking for some common sense answers in this. I already have a fight on my hands with a problem I would wish on no one. Thank you for any help!

Yes, the length of the runway (RW) determines the size of the aircraft. When permission for the PRIVATE GRASS runway was given, it was for him and his invited guests only. The width of the entire piece of land is ONLY 491 ft. wide, and he put the RW right on the neighbors property line. There WERE objections, but they were overlooked, and those with authority ignored the ramifications of how this would affect all the neighbors.

Your "pet peeve" about buying next to the airport is unfounded in this case because only one of the upset surrounding land owners came into the picture after the RW was built. ALL the nearby neighbors are lifelong residents. Some have had their land in their family for over a century. Every single home was here prior.

There HAVE been accidents there, and the last one was fatal.

His side IS HIS, but our sides are OURS! The planes do not stay on his side. The fatality was 200 ft. from the runway edge. ALL 200 ft. of it was an innocent resident's land.

I'm inclined to think that the size of the property would severely restrict the types of aircraft that can use it. A small piece of property cannot sustain a runway long enough to handle big planes.
Was it a big issue when it was built? Has development encroached on the runway, or the other way around? One of my pet peeves is people who buy and build near airports THEN complain about airplanes!
If there have been no accidents, I think it's safe. But if local residents are against it in sufficient numbers, combine your financial efforts, buy the runway from the landowner, and turn it into a park!
And on HIS side of the property line is as much his as right beside his house. As long as all the dirt and associated stuff stays on his side.

Given the new info, fight for your rights, sue for the violation thereof! A fatality on neighboring land should re-open the whole issue.

Because they reviewed the specifics of the issue that you chose to omit in an attempt to gain sympathy for your position to make an educated decision.

Is there more detail? I can't fathom this.
